Ensure the stability of the system of the writer prior to write the disc.
Check the cleanness of the writing surface, make sure no dust on the surface or clean using protective clothes.
Do not use the computer while writing is in progress to avoid buffer under run.
Ensure the disc is not placed up side down in the writing machine.
Aware of writer's compatibility with the disc( refer to the compatibility table)
Avoid high temperature, humid, dust, direct sunlight from the disc

Most of the drive makers have provided free download services in their websites. Just follow the instructions and download it. Before processing, double check the machine type you have, because downloading a wrong firmware will damage your writer .
Stop half way
There are flaws in the disc, or the computer is shut down suddenly.
 Use a new disc or reset the computer
